abu7maid -> What guitar can I buy? (Nov. 22 2012 14:07:06)

Hi everyone.

I want to buy a guitar from La Sonanta or Guitar Salons (I guess they offer the best guitars) please tell me if I can get something better.

I wanted to ask what is the best guitar I can get for say 2,500 Euros or if I wanted to stretch that to 3,000? I liked the guitar Jeronimo showcased but its way out of my range. I want something similar to that guitar I like its tone and the response seemed to be lightning.

The trick is that I can't try it so I really don't know what to pick and they don't sell imported crafted guitars where I live. I don't care which maker it is I'm sure you guys have enough expertise to tell me which is best

Thank you very much in advance and happy thanksgiving :)

With that kind of budget you can get a nice guitar.

Have you considered any of the luthiers here (i.e Anders, Andy and many others)? I've never played any of their guitars but many of the folks here own guitars from these luthiers and they're very happy. There are videos of them playing their guitars; you can check.

Personally, if I could afford to have a second guitar I would love to have one of Anders; he puts a lot of love in his work.

Good luck,
A

Where do you live?
I´m building a couple of guitars right now that´ll be for sale. One of them is a 2A blanca that´ll have the price of 2000,-€ directly from the builder.

Hi Anders thanks for your reply.
I live in the UAE.

Thats so cool that you build your own guitars you work real hard and have lots of dedication :) can I have a look if you have a video of someone playing your guitar ?

this is a guitar anders made me, no changes to audio, just a regular webcam. this guitar is nearly 5 years old and has a really nice growl when played

I personally avoid guitar salon for actual guitars. Their markup on guitars is very high compared to what you can get them directly from the luthier. Even their used guitars are expensive. Example a Graciliano Perez is $6000 through them and only 3500 euro or $4700 direct depending on conversion at that time.

Thanks Henry for your reply.

I like the sound of your guitar, can you guys please give me the offers/ models you are selling?

Another side question: I didn't get the difference between the Negras and Blancas. I know its probably the wood or material being used, but what effect does that have on sound or playability ?

Leñador -> RE: What guitar can I buy? (Nov. 23 2012 4:52:27)

Blanca - Brighter, more percussive.
Negra - Rounder, warmer.

My two pesetas, that 2a that Anders is going to have is a great deal.

I have a youtube channel you can look around at. There you´ll find recordings from the last 5 years. Some better than others.

And also you can see and hear Emilio Maya playing a blanca of mine here:

Hi abu7maid,

Here a video from my visit at Anders Eliasson in Huelva, Spain in october 2011, choosing the woods for my blanca no 91. I received the guitar in february this year and it's the best sounding and playable guitar I ever had. And on top of that ít's a real beauty! The day I can afford myself a negra it sure will be an Anders guitar again.
By the way, I never read about or spoke to someone who was not satisfied with a guitar build by Anders Eliasson. So you know what to do....haha..

This is not always true. With well-known luthiers who have a long waiting list it is. They know someone may be willing to pay more to avoid the wait. I deal with Guitar Salon International (which I assume you meant) and we sell my guitars at the same price.

Don Dionisio -> RE: What guitar can I buy? (Nov. 26 2012 17:50:26)

Right on, Ethan. And, I hear your guitars sell before GSI has a chance to
post pictures and other details on their website.
