I am selling a 2002 Lester DeVoe Negra Flamenco Guitar. Swiss spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides. Friction pegs. Immaculate condition, with slight nail wear in finish but no dents or scratches in the wood. This is truly a fantastic sounding, beautiful instrument. I am looking for $7500. If interested you can see photos and contact me at www.danielmaya.com.

Daniel,

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you are a bit out of line on your pricing. I just received a 2005 DeVoe East Indian negra. I paid a hair under $6,000 and that was with an extra bell and whistle or two. Granted I had to wait three years to get it, but Dan Zeff has a 2005 due soon listed for $7,000. I believe he gets two a year and I think Lester has other dealers getting new ones each year (so no wait).

So...$7,500 for a 2002? Ah, I don't think so. My guess is this guitar sold for about $5,200 new. So if you add a thousand (which Zeff does) to eliminate the three-year wait, adds up to about $6,200. IMO it would have to be an exceptional DeVoe to warrant more.

20 years ago, my small, one-bedroom apartment was £55,000 - North-South divide I guess!

Hamia,
You cheeky young monkey!!!!
Escribano,
Well spotted Sir! The divide was more marked then than now I suspect. The house in question was an 18th century cottage in the village of Patrington, East Yorks. I reckon it will worth about £100,000.00p now.
