I really don't know the new cost but some very good news came to me today from a long time player friend of mine who lives in Houston Texas... Elario Lozano.

He just told me that Francisco Navarro, the builder in Mexico, sold two of his guitars to Vicente Amigo during Vicente's recent concert tour there; a negra and a Blanca flamenco guitar.

Elario said, Vicente told Francisco that his Blanca guitar was every bit as good as his 1988 Reyes, which has been his concert guitar of choice for many years.

In fact, Vicente left his 1988 Reyes for Francisco to restore, since much of the finish was in bad shape. ....It sounds as if Vicente may have found a luthier who is very simpatico with his style of playing.

Vicente told Francisco that he would do a correct video of the guitar when he got back to Spain, and send it to him.

He also asked Francisco where he learned to build that model, and Francisco said, "I have a friend in San Antonio who showed me how to build it."

This lifted my spirit quite high, especially since I'm just getting over a bad case of the Flu. This was the best medicine of all.

I might also add that once this news gets out on video, Francisco will have more work than is the case right now, but not impossible at the moment.

Any interested party can contact Ron Hudson, the distributor, at Memorial Music in Houston Texas at...713-461-1060....

I think Ron's Belgium distributor-connection is La Sonanta guitars

I didn’t bother to comment on the sound of this guitar when I posted, because Francisco Navarro’s reputation speaks for itself. But the fact is that this guitar sounds fantastic, easily the equal of guitars I have played selling for two and three times the price.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but I just have to say this. I owned a couple of Navarro Reyes and they are truly great guitars. They are excellent for the price. However, I just recently picked up a Tom Blackshear Reyes (my first Blackshear) and the difference is night and day. You cannot get closer to the real thing. I was completely blown away by the guitar in every aspect that I wound up selling my Navarro Reyes guitars (a blanca and a negra). Incredible craftmanship Tom. Now I know why you have such a great reputation.

Despite all the marketing I believe the Concert Reyes models are situated firmly in the student guitar category. I doubt that they will compare well with high-end luthier models. My 2013 Reyes blanca is heavy, unresponsive and low-volume compared to my Green blanca, Canin negra, Sigurdsonn blangra. It's similar to my Burguet 1F which also never gets played.

Thanks kenjo, and I'm glad you like it. I think Sr. Reyes was the greatest and I admire his work. I have been respectful of Spanish guitar makers for the 53 years of my building career and although I build other models, I believe the Reyes guitars have definitely made their quality known. Reyes Hijo is doing well and I have hopes that he will follow the great name of his father, who recently passed on, may his name be held in fond memory.

I'm so sorry to hear this, perhaps you can return it for another one, if the guitar is in primo condition. He has a wait list for other clients, with which he could possibly refurbish, re-tune, and send it out for their needs. He has a reputation to keep.

Also, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and no builder enjoys a perfect solution to his art, even though we try very hard. I'm sure that Mr. Green and Mr. Canin would say the same.
