BarkellWH -> San Francisco Giants Win World Series (Oct. 29 2012 14:59:57)

To all Foro members in the San Francisco area, congratulations on the Giants winning the World Series in four straight games over the Detroit Tigers. I have always been a Giants fan. Growing up as a kid in Phoenix, Arizona, I began following the Giants when they were still in New York. They always spent spring training in Phoenix, and my father and I would go out to see them play the Cleveland Indians, who trained in Tucson. I continued following the Giants when they moved to San Francisco in 1958, and I still follow them. One of my biggest thrills during a Giants spring training game in Phoenix was getting a ball signed by Willie Mays as he was entering the dugout from center field. My father always thought Mickey Mantle was the all-around best player in those days, and I always thought it was Willie Mays. My father, who always encouraged discussion of history and politics at the dinner table, would occasionally consent to digress and discuss ("argue" would better describe it) the virtues of Willie Mays vs. Mickey Mantle, at bat and on the field. I shall have a glass of Jerez fino, muy seco, this evening and toast the Giants as World Series champions. Cheers, Bill
