Kate -> Granada Gigs (Sep. 16 2005 20:04:37)

Just thought I'd post a notice about the Flamenco Festival del Albaicin for anyone passing through Granada. Its on the 23rd September and features Marina Heredía, Antonio Canales and Emilio Maya among others, too many to remember and I'd pop outside and look at the poster on our street but it's raining. Yes it does rain in Spain [:D] which is good news for Simon's orange and lemon groves. Cost is 15 euros and tickets available from the taquillaje ( box office) in Puerta Real.

Will try and make an effort to keep posting Granada events.

The last time I wrote a list of places to go in Granada I posted it at flamenco dancer and then Jim posted a copy here as well. When someone said that the Eshavira club was mentioned in the New York Times I went and had a look at the article. It reads very like my post regarding the places to hang out and catch flamenco and makes nometion of more well known places, makes me think they read my post [8D]

Thanks Kate - any idea of when it starts?

Sorry about the confusion but there is in fact two nights of flamenco, both called noche del Flamenco del Albaicín, hope I get this right this time, one on the 23rd with a great line up including La Macanita at Paseo de Los Tristes. And on on the 24th Marina Heredía, Antonio Canales, Emilio Maya at the Mirador San Nicholas. Both start at 9,30 and cost 15 euros. I'll take notes next time I see the posters and list the full line -up so you can also see who the guitarists are, Jeronimo Maya plays on the 23rd and Diego del Marao but cant rememebr who they are accompanying.

Its the London bus syndrome, nothing happens for ages and then you get two flamenco nights in a row. No sleep for the wicked [;)]

Granada is a lovely place.

Just spent my birthday there chilling with the musicians in Albaicín. Saw the gigs at Mirador San Nicholas. No time to visit Al 'Hambra this time.

Also just happened to get me a nice Carrillo flamenco negra in Casasimarro the week before [:D]

I think Ill be back in the Spring [;)]

Cheers
