Kalo -> Arpeggio In Solea (Sep. 1 2012 0:29:11)

So, I am learning some cool Solea!

I can do the typical sixteen note arpeggio in the compas, but, then it gets fancier and there is in what I can only describe as a roll type arpeggio..

How do I practice the roll arpeggio? Mine still sound like a sixteen notes?

If you all don't know what I am talking about I can post the audio..

Thanks,

Kalo

Roll.....Like an arpeggiated pick up to the bass note? "tickleta boom" kinda thing? [:D]

Hi Lenador,

It's a solea arpeggio and there is a fast a m i arpeggio....

If we are talking music notation...The arpeggio is made up of p a m i

The "p" is a quarter note that is connected with 16th note (a m i) triplet and

I'll see if I can post the clip...the "a m i" picking part of the arpeggio is fast and sounds as though it is played with a sweep up the 1, 2, 3 string...

Thanks,

Kalo

I'm thinkin I gotta hear it, or see how it's written at least. I can't picture a quarter note first tied to 16th's without some other big bass note to follow immediately after the 16th's like a pickup, I've seen written a lot 16's that are not played like 16th's but they're usually pickups to a beat. But I'm surprise by flamenco everyday, so we'll see, that's part of the beauty.

I am going to post it in a little while. It sounds like a fast pick up arpeggio..

The compas isn't difficult...

Okay, here is what I mean by a roll type arpeggio...

This is not a difficult arpeggio, but, it almost sounds like the arpeggio is being sweeped by one finger rather that the p a m i pattern..

So, how is it a sixteen note? I mean the rest is obvious...

I was trying to up load the mp3...It's not letting me...

How do I upload the file??? I clicked to "upload more files"..

Thats what I was thinking of. Those are pick ups to the next note, think of them as being completely separate from the bass note behind them and as being completely related to the bass note that follows (no matter how it's notated). my teacher used to get on my case all the time about treating them like actual 16ths. I think a better way to transcribe it would be as decoration notes. I guess what I did was, think 16th's then come in too late and cram them in before the upcoming bass note [:)] That might not be the best way but it worked for me.......I don't get my hands smacked anymore about it at least.

Thanks Lenador! Nice explanation! This arp. techinque has always been tough for me. I can do the regular ascending and descending arpeggio!!! I will really happy when I can get this clean and sounding nice!!!
