time for a new one. What are you all using? Looking for something light-my back is killing me.

How light? My AER Compact Mobile is about 32 lbs., and can run for 3-4 hours on battery. The Compact 60 is only 21 lbs. They sound awesome.

21 lbs? Sounds great. Thanks Miguel.

I get about 6-8 hours of battery life from mine. They are set up to carry two batteries inside the amp. Not sure if it's a standard set up when purchased but when I changed my first one after a few years I noticed it only came with one. But it adds more weight to it. I agree they do sound great. Awesome projection.

Nice tip, but would not be worth the extra weight for me. My batteries seem to have lost about an hour's worth. How did you go about changing yours out?

Basically pulling the speaker out...they sit behind. Two clamps hold each battery in place.... I use a small airport trolley to cart it around to gigs...

I think I would be scared. Maybe I'll PM you if I get the urge to do it :)

Geez, I hope I don't start having to play 8 hour gigs. I knew a band that did that twice a week.

Sounds like hell.... Kind of handy if you have two outdoor weddings in a row or long street performances... I've owned both models of the compact 60 and found the mobile has a much bigger sound...guess that makes sense with the larger speaker enclosure ...

Glad you chimed in--thought they were supposed to sound the same! Say, what do you use for a PA?

Guest -> RE: amps (Aug. 30 2012 21:22:41)

Hey Miguel
I don't own a pa...used to years ago, but found for most gigs the amp works fine
Either that or I patch into a house system via the di out from the amp....usually jbl or ev..[prefer the sound of the ev powered speakers]
Or borrow my girlfriends small vocal Yamaha pa if need be, but very rarely..Think it's an emx series system ...
As far as miking guitar I use a Neumann km 184 or a bartlett guitar pro clip on mic...sometimes in combination...

I'm really happy with this set up
Easy to set up and compact....minimal lugging....

Neumann km 184

Wow, that's some heavy duty gear! I've got the Bartlett but using mics on-stage is a pretty mysterious process to me. Maybe I'll give it and my condensor a try some this season. I am probably going to pick up a QSC K10 or two for my duo/trio work, and when I want to fly something.
