Kalo -> Fransico Navarro Classical/eBay (Aug. 1 2012 1:58:01)

Hi All,

I found this Fransico Navarro Classical on eBay..It is a 640 scale and 50 mm nut.

It is free shipping, plus, there is a return policy.

I was seriously thinking of trying it out because of the scale length and nut...The bidding price starts at $485.00

I know that I would have to put a golpeadore and lower the bone and maybe action.

So, is the bracing different on a classical guitar then flamenco guitar?

Basically, could I turn this guitar into flamenco negra?

Thanks,

Kalo

I would say it is unlikely that you will be able to lower the action to flamenco specs on this.
Generally a classical will have 12th fret action about 1mm higher than on a flamenco .
To lower it by this 1mm requires that you lower the saddle by twice this ie 2mm.
Whilst there are not any closeups of the bridge fron the right angle in the listing,to me it does not look like it has the scope for lowering by that amount without break angle problems.
And then the top and bracing will not be optimized

Make sense Jeff!

Kalo,

you seem anxious to get a guitar. I have read most of your posts. I think you should make trips to play guitar at the dealer mentioned in your other thread. I think your guitar will pop up, but you may have to wait for it. The best guitars we find for ourselves are special and then appear when you are not thinking to hard about it. Like love, it ambushes you.

Hi Estebanana,

You are right, I am anxious to get a guitar. I've been playing on this Takamine electric accoustic and believe or not I am not inspired by it.....

I've yet to make a trip to Zaveleta's in Tucson..Truthfully, even if I did make it those guitars are waaay out of my price league.

I was even thinking of just getting a Cordoba...

I could go to Sam Ash and try them and see if there is anything I like....

I would just love to have a cool guitar to play on and then save up for a built one...

I hope that doesn't sound lame..

Thanks,

Kalo

kalo, even if you lower the saddle and were ok with the strings being a little higher off the top a classical is built differently than a flamenco and you will probably find the guitar disappointing with the sound--it will be more "classical" than "flamenco". why not see if a navarro student flamenco can be built with 640/50 specs?

Hi Keith,

I was thinking to do the same...Get it custom built with those specs. I am not sure who I would need to go through....

Do, I need to go through Ron Hudson?

Thank,

Kalo

Okay, so it is Ron Hudson..

What is wierd is after I returned that Conde/Navarro to his partner and CRIME, another guy from Texas who got from Ron, I emailed Ron and asked about the possibility of order a custom Student Navarro from him and HE NEVER REPLIED back.

Seriously, I think he has trouble unloading his stock as of now...He doesn't really seem interested in wanting to take "custom orders"

In all reality, I really disklike the bargining or low balling for prices...I do it, but, dislike it..

I think to some Ron gives killer deals when he needs to unload inventory, but, to others he'll crank prices up.

I'll think about dealing with him...

Thanks,

Kalo
