Fandangos Por Soleá ?? (Full Version)

so what is it?? I am listening to Miguel Povedas latest album "Arte Sano" , his third track is "Te Desafío (Fandangos Por Soleá) ",the compas is 12 beat Solea, but I dont understand what is the "fandangos" part of it. I know that it the letras are not solea letras and the guitar does not do the solea closing at 10,11,12.

can someone help enlighten me and help me understand what is a Fandangos Por Soleá ??
suppose I want to play a solo fandangos por solea, where do i start??

I don't know, you'll have to wait to hear from an expert, but I doubt it because it doesn't really make sense. At least, as I understand it, basically it's what the name says - the singer is singing fandangos and the guitarist is playing solea, although as you suggest, he makes some adjustments.

I know the piece you mean but I've only heard it a couple of times. Maybe your first impression was like mine - what's this palo? - sounds like solea in the guitar, but the cante certainly isn't.... actually the cante sort of sounds like fandangos... hmmm... that's odd... then searching through the incredibly fine print in the liner notes to discover "fandangos por solea" ... oh, I see. No. Its cante =fandango...the melody and harmony, the guitar is Solea, meaning compas and falsetas.

As I always stated, even solea is free compas melody laid over compas of solea guitar is just grabbing chords keeping compas following voice. Same thing here exactly, just instead of free solea melodies, its freely sung fandangos coplas overlaid on solea compas, guitar grabs chords. No point to invoke a guitar solo any different than normal solea because guitar falsetas need not follow cante melody exactly.

Also buleria compas can be used. For an example of a fandango copla guitar falseta por buleria, check the very end of compadres, the duo of Paco and Manolo. In terms of guitar the form is simple buleria.

Rito y geografia has several fandango por solea examples... check Fernanda de Utrea, Funi, and one of my fav examples is Platero de Alcala. For old school I really liked Manuel Vallejo with Manolo de Huelva which I have heard on a guitar compilation.

There is that bootleg audio of camaron and Paco in a Peña that has been linked to a couple times. IN the bulerias the last letra I think camaron sings was fandango, Paco maintains buleria compas and follows the tonos of fandangos.
Here at 6:55 it starts. The melody is very freely stretched as the fast compas flies by. Notice Everybody yells ole at the Bb chord realizing he's doing a fandango to end.
