Webster defines vituperous. Many writers use vituperative and vituperous interchangeably.

I think the thrust of the word is more akin to - being agitating or button pushing really, with invective, libel or by maligning and slandering.

Oxford should say: Triggering with serious uncalled for guasa.[:D]

Stephen,

Yesterday (Sunday) morning I went to the Village for my usual Sunday morning eggs Benedict. I had a nice chat with Patti Arthur about my visits to Micronesia and my stay at the village on two occasions 20 years ago, and I told her I was glad that the Village was just as nice as ever. And the eggs Benedict were, too! I told her about your adventures in Micronesia and your experience with the Village, and your encounters with her husband Bob in the 1980s, while studying anthropology. She did not remember either you or me , but she was glad we both retained fond memories of Micronesia and the Village. I conveyed your best regards to both her and her husband Bob.

Once again, have a great visit to Big Sur. I envy you!

Cheers,

Bill

Bill,

I've been away from the computator for a few days, but I am happy to read your post. I'm gonna send you a private in the next day or two so look out for it.
The eggs benedict I suppose is better than Joy Lunch, but oh the nostalgia for both...

S.

Stephen,

They are equally good. The only difference is one is for breakfast/brunch, and the other for lunch. Coincidently, it is now August 1, 3:20 PM in Kolonia, and I went to Joy Restaurant today for lunch and ordered the "Joy Lunch," which consists of Yellowfin Tuna sashimi with wasabi, fried filet of Mahi Mahi, rice, salad, and a wonderful soup. Absolutely delicious.

Hope your are, or will be, enjoying your Big Sur adventure.

Cheers,

Bill

...sudden nostalgia!

There used to be a number of young pretty waitresses at the Joy Cafe. The first time we went to Little Mike's on a Saturday night, several of them were sitting at a big table with some Pohnpeian guys, girls on one side, guys on the other. The girls motioned for us to come over and sit. We weren't sure how the Pohnpeian guys would take it. Turns out they bought the first round of beer, there were big smiles and handshakes all around, taking turns dancing with the girls, and a good time was had by all.

Last time I was in Pohnpei, Larisa and I were on our way from Kwajalein to Japan via Guam. The Island Hopper inhaled a bird taking off from Kosrae. After inspection on the ground in Pohnpei and conferring with Houston they decided to send in another plane. Continental Micronesia ("Air Mike") put us up overnight at the Sunset Motel. Dinner was breaded parrotfish--the only time I ever had it--fried rice and salad, fresh tropical fruits and ice cream for dessert. Delicious!

The view among scattered showers of the harbor, Sokehs Rock and the sunset....
