El Kiko -> RE: What is the mythology behind the smart asses on the Foro ? (Jul. 19 2012 21:41:23)

I suppose you'd be expecting a smartass answer from me , but no .... I don't think its anything to do with flamenco specifically , just some people are serious and some are not , in all types of life. As to flamenco , its recreational , its for enjoyment , it should be done in a fun way , you should play with a smile and have fun doing it , maybe it will sound better , maybe not but it will feel better. People come for to this foro for enjoyment , sure there's a bit of study and some learning etc .. but it should be fun too and that's how I treat it. I have serious things in my life I don't need more from a passtime on a computer. Having said that , there are times to be serious and understanding on here as well . Also I see things getting even tooo serious , especially these big disscussions about , eg .. the name or function of a chord ....i tend to switch off those things now , they wont help me play . I think that you can explain many things that are useful in a lighthearted way or a serious way , one is more enjoyable , but both should carry the same information..... The only thing about being funny or sarcastic , as you put it , is first you must be able to laugh about yourself ... this is important , this may help people identify with you , If you are just generally sarcastic about others , its the same as just having a go at people , this will get annoying real quick ... However perhaps not so much if I start by ridiculing myself ,.......before I move on to Estebanana,.......... Which is more "flamenco" and why? I suppose the lighter side of things is more flamenco , surely , the flamenco attitude is a bit devil may care kind of thing ... ANd maybe Being fun is a trait people generally appreciate in others. Don't be overly serious First thoughts
