Question about Gitano de Lucia (Full Version)

anyone played Gitano de Lucia by Vicente before?
I'm thinking of learning the entire piece step by step this summer

my question is about the fingering. I've seen couple versions that show the arpeggio at the beginning in different ways [ in the pic ]

anyone knows the definite right way? or how Vicente plays it?
the blue square in the third version is kinda confusing me .. shall it be done (m i m) or (a i a) or even (a m a) ?

which do you think is the most appropriate version ? using A or M at the beginning La sonanto vs Alain ?

That's correct. In other words BOTH are wrong. They should be the fingering of Faucher but all caps to reflect apoyando rest strokes.

I will say this is a unique thing that vicente does, most other players would do it tirando or free stroke as it lets the notes ring out more. Same goes for your video, the first chord. Vicente does it apoyando too, again it's cool to do free stroke. In your video at top the aps are pretty weak even for tirando though....need to work on going slower and gettting a more secure grip first which ever technique you go with.

yes Ricardo I agree my video is a mess I missed many notes and the whole thing was crappy , it was 2 years ago so I hope I can achieve better results now

I found this guy, he play the piece cleanly and nicely I will try to do the same

I have a similar question - about the RH fingering for the end of the phrase after the picado. Assuming you follow Faucher's suggestion (which makes seems to me) you play I-M on the 4th string, but then what? Play M again on the open fifth and I on 6th?

..or play that open 5th string with I then P on 6th string (then revert back to AMI)?

I suppose a third alternative is to land that last note of the picado run on 4th string with A, but I find that very awkward.

PS how did you get on with this one Elie?

I am sorry. I didn't see your comment and its funny you commented here because I believe that after working extensive on this piece the whole summer it had a great role in causing me dystonia.

about your question the La Sonanta fingering version suggests that at the end of the picado you land with the M on the fourth string and then play M again on the open fifth and I on 6th
that's what i was doing in the above video

but after taking the piece seriously, what I was doing is I-A picado therefore i could land on the fourth string with A and then play M on the open fifth and I on 6th which makes sense to my technique as i use I-A picado

I think what would work for you is to perform I-M picado and then just replace the last note with A , ( I am trying it now and its not that awkward [:)] )
something like 6th : I - M , 5th: I - M - I , 4th: M - A -arpeggio-> mi

Firstly the sonanta transcription is off by an 8th note...all needs to shift back an 8th.

Faucher is correct timing but RH fingering is wrong...the first hammer is I, but I REPEATS on the A string
0-2-3 is I M I
then on D string is
0-2 M I....

And it works because the last note is a tie so there is plenty time to set and play the m finger on the A string open to continue
arpegios...
