Photographs of guitar at https://picasaweb.google.com/115192646905893960498/ChipSGuitar2012?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCJDA5bre9PvUXw&feat=directlink

Please note that the pictures were taken before the saddle height was adjusted.

I made this guitar with a 53-mm nut at the request of the customer. It's a bit wide for me so my playing is limited. Also, the action is low for my heavy pulgar.

Ethan:
Another great sounding guitar!

Very interesting.
I've wondered whether or not I could steal this rosette design from Sebastian Stenzel, since I like it very much and have been tempted to use it for my next guitar.
Seems it's fair game.

You nailed it! Many years ago, perhaps 1998, I saw a blurry photograph, in the Journal of the Guild of American Luthiers, of one of his rosettes and this is my interpretation of it. I don't really know exactly what the original looks like. Maybe I can find it on the Internet now. I think it's all fair game.

Looks and sounds fantastic Ethan!
I am in mid French polish right now. Should be completed in a couple of days then I'll be showing her off too!
I'm a bit scared to string her up if you really want to know the truth!

Thanks, Jorge. I look forward to seeing and hearing yours. I am always anxious when stringing up for the first time. With this guitar the trebles were immediately strong, then after playing a little bit the basses kicked in. Things settle. It's always extremely exciting, almost like creating life. You struggle to get everything looking nice and then it even makes music too. How awesome.

Great sound Ethan!
Mark.

Ethan, Your headstock shape rule, man!
It's simple, yet one of the best I've came across so far!

Thank you very much, Beno. I tried to follow the example of the old Spanish makers in taking elements from those I admired and learned from, while inventing little. And the one I admired the most--Santos Hernandez--had the simplest design of all.

By the way, I am intrigued by the rosette design in your picture. Did you make it?
