Thanks to whoever ( Tony A, I think?) posted something here on this little device recently.

Despite bad luck with several previous "clip-on" tuners, I went out and bought one of these, and find its just great: Compact, easy to use, accurate and very convenient, expecially in a noisy environment. I think I'll get a couple more.

Why do people think they need these? .......I have a tuning fork A 440..and a pair of ears to sort out the rest ...

Or I tune up to whatever I am listening to , or learning .../.surely its best to start listening .......

it's good to train your ears of course, but there is no doubt these are handy especially in noisy environments or when you're feeling lazy [:D]

Well; I have played most of my life (77 years) with only one good ear ( the other got busted listening to bombs exploding during the 1940 blitz) . And my only good one now needs a hearing aid for the higher frequencies.

So, for me, these little clip-on tuners are practically a necessity, and much more convenient than the fancy big one's I paid five times as much for. . .

I'm with you Britguy, couldn't live without my Sabine tuner with its red, yellow, and green lights. Now if I go blind I'll really be screwed.
It's tough getting old... I'm also (barely) a child of the '30s so I know (Some of)what you're going thru.
Cheers, Dave

Rafalin Habichuela's got one. And I just ordered one. I've got a tuning fork but I've also got pegs... no hair shirt though. I find them a bit scratchy.

I bought one too this week and i'm happy with it, especially because it's so small that i haven't to take it away when i put the guitar in it's case.
i used it during our rehearsal in a "noisy" environment and that's really an advantage (especially with 5 other instrument that are more or less tuned), and they aren't expensive, i can recommand these too.

77, eh? Kudos to you, sir. My comment was directed more at Rico, as I'm already a strong supporter of these little tools. I'm currently using the Snark, but have tried several others. I love the fact that you can get these in the $10-20 range.

Using something is not the same as needing it. I hope you only use your metronome or smart phone

great if you can hear your fork with your pair of ears - try tuning up in a small studio with a dozen dancers "warming up"[:D]
