I helped my buddy Stewart Port run his Tin Can Banjo making workshop today at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley and made one of my own.

A couple times a year Stewart busts out the tin cans and parts and we give workshops where kids build a tin can banjo on the spot. It helps that Stewart is on of Americas foremost experts on vintage Martin repair and restopration. [:D]

Watching this, I felt like I was walking into a Chinese restaurant. [;)]

Curiously, what's the fret board made of? Good for you guys for doing this. How do the kids respond?

I'll photograph the insrument later and put it up here. Also my friend has a website with instructions if you want to do a workshop yourself with kids or adults. He's into giving the information to others.
