Shawn Brock -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (Apr. 30 2012 23:55:00)

Man he's got a hell of a picado don't he! What's the guitar he's playing? I wouldn't have minded being in your shoos! Can't take lessons from anyone here... Thinking of talking my wife into moving out of this place after the baby comes... I need to study some damn flamenco!

Ricardo -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 0:07:36)

damn who's the RUMBAKING now????[:D][:D]

vigrond -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 0:16:07)

Very nice, sounds great!

kudo -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 0:36:43)

VietFlamenco -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 0:48:15)

Shawn, the guitar Grisha played in this video is a Devoe. Apparently it was originally made for Vincente, but Vincente rejected it due to the sides and back being dyed blue. Grisha didn't care about the color cause the sound is freaking awesome.

That was really nice man. It would have been great to join in for the trio.[:D]

rombsix -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 0:59:02)

I see he's still having back issues seeing as he's still using a guitar support... Damn those guitar-related injuries plus aches and pains!

The problem is how would I be able to follow up on those crazy picados Grisha does towards the end. The scary part is he was probably just getting warmed up.[:D]

Juan & Ramzi.....I would consider it an honor to be able to play guitar with either one of you guys!!!! It would be awesome!!!! :)

Thanks so much, Scott. [:)]

Juan - you can always just randomly bash your guitar as fast and hard as you could, and if that doesn't work, just smash the instrument onto the floor. [:D]

Thanks Scott. [:)] Ramzi, I agree. When it comes to picado, I think those long runs is where Grisha really shines in my opinion.

(I was just messing around with those tremolo 1 string picado runs and I can actually get them to sound ok. Cool.)

Holy Crap! That alzapua is off the charts. I never heard an alzapua like that. Not even Flavio Rodrigues has an alzapua like that. It really makes me want to practice some alzapua exercises now. Thnks for sharing.

KMMI77 -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 3:20:24)

Thanks for sharing rumbaking.

I enjoyed watching that.

Man, I'm not sure what impresses me most, the picado ,the alzapua or just how humble Grisha comes across as.

jg7238 -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 4:10:52)

Thanks for the inspiration. I believe I can match his alzapua speed starting at 0:19 or very close to it.(in compas of course) [8D].

WTH
I think Grisha is faster than Paco

Rumba, that Tsiorba guitar rocks.
I like it very much

JohnWalshGuitar -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 8:30:16)

What a monster! How cool rumbaking. What a great opportunity. Looks like great fun!

keith -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 9:57:42)

rumbaking--cool video. yes grisha is something else and then some. i learned to play the guitar from his father 12 years ago--i was a total beginner entering my mid life crisis--i wanted to learn to play flamenco. my lessons were on sat afternoons and often times grisha would be in the next room playing and i would just have stop and listen to him play. what really blew me away was the day i brought a shakti c.d. to my lesson to let his father hear john mc laughlin play and grisha walked in the room and having never heard the c.d. began playing what mc laughlin had just played. his brain has to have some really incredible synaptic patterns to be able to pull that off.

Gummy -> RE: I got to meet and take lessons with Grisha!!!! (May 1 2012 11:29:45)

It looks like it would be worth paying for lessons just to watch him play.[:)]

Note for note cepa Andaluza he just repeats the pattern.
I had an awesome jam with him till 5 am when he came to dc.
We drank some wine and our picados got slower but my friend sang
some buleria so we had a blast doing unison PDL falsetas and stuff.
Best thing about grisha is he comes off very serious then makes some
really funny sarcastic jokes... We were cracking up all night. Hope to hang with him
again soon!!!

That's awesome Ricardo. I think Grisha's most admirable quality is his humbleness.

How did you get the class set up?
