Saw this article linked in the news today. Not sure of the accuracy...

Pimientito -> RE: Article on news of Jerez (Apr. 12 2012 12:23:01)

There were groups of people camping outside the town hall during the flamenco festival last month but no more a than a few dozen at the time. If things have escalated then I'm sure there is a lot of anger now.

Yeah, I heard on the BBC World Service last month that the bus drivers in Jerez hadn't been paid since before Christmas and were going nuts.

Really rough times in Europe and no solution in sight, only economists juggling numbers around on paper. (re-arranging deckchairs on Titanic).

Jobs even like stacking supermarket shelves or serving burgers are like gold dust to young folk here in the UK. (Even for graduates)

cheers,

Ron

The website where you found this article is written for and by Brits in Spain, and the writer of this article is clearly a follower of Murdoch style right-wing tabloid sensationalism.
It's true that Jerez is in a very bad situation. The city is broke, many workers did not get paid for several months, and there is conflict between the municipal government and labour organisations, but (as the comment from the reader suggests) the headline is misleading and irresponsible, and intended to conjure up panicky visions of violent chaos and characters like this:

A couple of articles with more information:

Smothered by debt, Jerez is dying

Workers in Jerez struggle without pay in indebted Spain

Thank you for the articles. I just saw the article I posted and did think it sensational, however I thought I would post it to see what folks are saying, particularly those of you who live in Spain. I am familiar with the Union quoted in the article and have seen demonstrations when I lived in Spain - again I knew the article to be throwing out the word "Anarchy" to stir up sh*t.

The other half of the pic you posted is a bit more "balanced":

(You can't believe anything these days.)
