JBASHORUN -> MUNDOBEAT ELECTRONIC FLAMENCO METRONOME (Jul. 12 2005 20:51:46)

Hi everyone,
I've come across a website for the "Mundobeat" Electronic Flamenco Metronome:

www.ugcarray.com/vko

To be honest, I've been considering getting a metronome for some time now, but suspected that most standard digital metronomes don't do Flamenco compas. Apparently, however, the mundobeat DOES do compas. It also seems to be recommended by Tomatito and Ottmar Liebert.
I prefer the portable units, as they are (obviously) portable, and useable when you are not at your computer (unlike software downloads).
I'd be interested to know if anyone actually has a Mundobeat box, and whether they find it useful.
Also, if there are any alternative metronomes (hopefully cheaper!) that can accommodate flamenco compas. Any advice and links would also be appreciated.

Thanks,

James

James,

The Mundobeat is a very nice unit (I own one), unfortunately they are not being made any more. You might email them and ask them if they plan to make them again. It took several months to get mine.

I own one too. Didn't know they stopped production. That's too bad.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have a no-name electronic tuner/metronome that cost less than twenty quid ,and it's programmable, so You can have any rhythm you like. I suspect most shops sell something similar.

Thanks everyone,
I emailed the Mundobeat maker, and he confirmed that he has actually stopped making them at present. However, he is currently trying to arrange for another batch to be made in a few months time, but this will depend on demand. If anyone is interested in buying one in the future, it would be a good idea to email them and express an interest.

Thanks,

James

What about the Flamenco Master? Just as good! I would have gotten this had I heard about it before I got my Mundobeat. Still may get it anyway.

guys, there is almost always a simple solution to look for: http://www.pinkandaint.com/weirdmet.shtml

plays any rythm, you have 9 different sounds you can program in every way. and the best thing: its FREE!

especially the customizeable sounds make it a lot easier to get the rythm imo.

Good afternoon chaps,
My little programmable metronome/tuner has the name 'Parkinson' on the front face, but I can't identify model number or anything. Googling might shed more light on it.
Cheers from sunny Hull!
