Pimientito -> Tino's Easter march (Mar. 16 2012 9:13:53)

Semana santa is coming very fast now and there are a large variety of different songs and musical forms performed over the holy week. For me one of the characteristic things about semana santa is hearing "saetas" , unaccompanied coplas sung from the windows to honour the virgin passing down the street. In flamenco the Caña is associated with Easter and there are also the marching bands with drums and trumpets that follow the giant floats down the streets.

Tino has come up with this version of the "Virgen del Valle" for solo guitar. I saw him working it out a year or so ago. He said he tackled it by figuring out about 20 seconds of score per day, putting it together and then rehearsing it to death. I love this interpretation, real guitar playing and very flamenco. Tino is a very tall guy with large hands. Im not sure that some of the stretches he can make are within the range of most players. Enjoy.

Masterful

Well done. It's especially noticeable on guitar how easily it could transform into tango porteño.

I met Tino when he came to Halifax in 2010 to perform at the flamenco festival. He's a very friendly guy, and yes, very tall LOL [:D]

I would've taken a class with him, but our schedules did not allow it.

I did sound for the group. It was a great hall with lots of natural acoustics and a very loud stage that was brought in for the dancers, so what I did was blend the guitar and voice with the natural unamplified stage. Everyone loved how it sounded. [:)]

TIP: if you ever get the opportunity to rent a Neumann KM184 for your guitar, DO IT. I say rent, because they're expensive:

Excellent! I just love videos that are well-made and where the audio rocks. Plus it's always a bonus to have HD quality. Olé!
