TravelCases -> Light Weight Travel Cases (Mar. 15 2012 16:45:55)

I am looking for a light weight travel case for a gift. Can you please provide your recommendations on what brand, type, etc., you would recommend and what company to get it through. Thank you.

I consider this a good article on the topic:

hope that helps!

A good article. I have traveled a good bit with a guitar. My '67 Ramirez blanca has over a million miles as checked airline baggage. No problems so far. Most of its travels have been in either a Mark Leaf case or a Reuer. Both are out of business now.

I have two Karuras which have been used to transport a couple of expensive guitars.

Concerning the article, the Hoffee cases have gone up in price, but they are still quite competitive. I would use a case cover with any of the cases if they are to be checked as baggage--and you never know when you will have to check them. A cover adds padding and thermal insulation. With no cover your nice shiny case will be covered in scuffs and scratches after a couple of flights.

Good luck!
