britguy -> Bass strings wont hold tune??? (Mar. 12 2012 18:27:40)

Drove from Ontario down to Palm Beach, Florida a few days ago.

Seems like my strings - particularly the bass strings - just will not hold their tune for more than an hour or even less! And I'm talking here of dropping a semi-tone in a few hours!

Every time I pick up the guitar the bass strings in particular are about a semi-tone down. And this has been happening for several days since I arrived here and unpacked my guitar. The strings have been on the guitar about three weeks, and were quite stable before I left Canada.

The strings are Savarez Yellow Card (Xtra High tension)basses, and Alliance normal tension trebles.

Could the humidity levels here in South Florida cause such a situation? It is not that hot here at this time (high seventies or so). And it does not feel all that humid either.

I`m puzzled. Anybody offer an explanation. . .

In a week or two it might stabilize. Wood needs time to get used to a new environment, even on electric guitars with truss rods. Dont worry and play a lot :)

Normal problem. Tie knots so they don't slip as easy
