Jason received one of my guitars today and I just thought I would shamelessly post this:

There are photos of it here:

And second and third impressions:

Uh, oh! Looks like your prices just went up! [:D]

Doitsujin -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 0:20:11)

Sounds already good. Well,.. looks like real "Deutsche Wertarbeit" ... ;)

kudo -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 1:37:45)

how much are your blancas and negras Ethan? how many flamenco guitars have you built so far? im really curious now!

constructordeguitarras -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 1:49:12)

Hi, Kudo.

Thanks for asking. (Could you stop tapping your foot for a minute please?)

My blancas are now going for $3000 and negras for $3200. (That's what you could pay for a factory-made guitar, but I'm not famous yet.)

So far I have built about a hundred flamenco guitars--I lost the exact count.

Wow. Beautiful work. The rosette is really something. I'm also a big fan of whatever staining technique it is that gives that slightly uneven looking patina. Very "earthy."

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. The finish is nothing but shellac, which tends to look uneven on spruce. Shellac comes in many natural colors.

Good on you Ethan,

Your guitars really do sound great. I can tell they are punchy, responsive and light. The separation is always evident in the videos i have listened to. They seem to have the qualities i look for in a flamenco guitar.

It's nice to hear Jason comment on the playability. To me that's the most important part. When the guitar is able to encourage the players hands to relax and then responds even more when doing so. I get the feeling your guitars have that quality.

Shawn Brock -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 3:59:58)

Ethan, is this the first guitar you posted on the classifieds over here? I see your prices have went up already! LOL Great for you man! Watch Jason though, he may never give that one back. He's sounding like he may want to hold on to it. Great job Man! Both blancas you posted on the classifieds sounded great, and I'm guessing one if not both of them have found homes. There's something to be said for a guy who goes from Dropout to Chemist to guitar maker!

constructordeguitarras -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 5:09:24)

Hi, Shawn.

No, this is neither of the guitars I posted on the Foro earlier. One of those just sold tonight (White Golpeador) and someone is planning to buy the other one this weekend.

This one is for sale. Jason is just being the greatest guy and helping me promote my work. (I can always send him another.)

Anyone interested in buying this one, please contact me. I would send them a Paypal invoice and then simply email Jason a prepaid UPS label to have the guitar shipped to the buyer. I guess I've set the price at $3000. But I'll throw in a hard case and shipping (48 states).

machopicasso -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 8:29:09)

That sounds great. If Jason makes a better quality video of this guitar, please post it here.

FullMetalGuitarist -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 8:56:49)

Ethan , I remember you used 7 braces and then moved to 5 , which this one has?

constructordeguitarras -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 10:09:39)

Hi, Mark.
Since about a year ago all my flamenco soundboards are like this one for a negra I am finishing now:

Thanks , really nice.

orsonw -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 13:41:37)

Ethan, all of your guitars that you've recently posted sound and look very interesting to me (as far as one can tell from videos). Good luck with your art!

It's frustrating but I would never buy a guitar without at least trying another from the maker. You are on my list of luthiers whose guitars I would like to try one day, but I am a long way off in London!

Don Dionisio -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 23:25:41)

That is a beautiful composition-and what a great guitar!
I would imagine a lot of instruments
would be overwhelmed by his playing-but that instrument sounds
great in his hands.
Congratulations, Ethan.

constructordeguitarras -> RE: Jason McGuire's first impressions of Ethan Deutsch guitar (Mar. 2 2012 23:51:10)

Thanks for your congratulations, Don, and everyone.
Don't forget to order guitars from me.
