dmirtygorachyov -> help with Guajiras de lucia please? (Feb. 22 2012 12:38:20)

Hey ive been playing the guitar for a while now, but only recently picked up interest in flamenco. Ive gotten abit used to some of the weird rasguedo strumming with the fingers, but i cant find a proper guide on how the fingering of the flamenco shreds are done.

Could anyone help me out with this? This is the tabs im following...

http://imgur.com/vKgYM

At the moment all im doing is plucking the A and E string with my thumb, the D with my index, G with my middle, B with the 4th finger (what ever its called) and my pinkie on the high E.

How would i approach the shreddy bit at the end? Should i use my index and middle finger for the scale runs or should i TRY my best to use all 4 or 5 fingers during these flamenco shreds?

Thank you many kind souls of the flamenco forum!1

Guajiras de Lucia is a showcase piece involving a lot of advanced technique, especially "picado" and not a beginner's piece by any means!

I'm assuming you mean "picado" when you talk about the shreddy bits?...(the long, very fast single note runs)

Here is your namesake Grisha Goryachev playing it:-

Only the index, middle and ring (3 rd) fingers are used for arpegio, I've never seen pinky used.
Picado is usually done with index and middle, although a few players use all three.

Grisha also has some instructional videos on picado technique on YouTube if you look around.
Also this Forum has many lengthy threads on the subject if you want to do a search.

cheers,

Ron

dmirtygorachyov , the tab from the page that you share it's Not a good transcription of Guajiras de Lucia. Try to find the Transcriptions of Jorge Berges or Alain Faucher, They are much better. [:)]

If you're a beginner, you shouldn't tackle Guajiras de Lucía!! [:-]

Paco's music is amazing, yes, but it's difficult even for non-beginners.

I recommend Juan Martín and Graf Martínez if you want to master the basics first.

It sounds like you are struggling with the basic techniques. The pinky is Never used in arpeggio (as far as I know). You can not learn flamenco from tabs If you do not have a solid foundation in flamenco. I recommend you to get a good flamenco teacher. If there is no teacher in your area , you can do online Skype lessons with the teachers here on the foro.

Is this the same guy who called Tomatito simple the other day?
