The more I listen to Jason's record, the more I like it. Especially the tango and the first buleria. The guy's a super talent. The first time I saw him play, he was doing a concert with Pedro Cortes hijo. He played sitar, guitar, oud, and trap drums. All professionally. He wrote most of the second guitar parts to Pedro's solos, and that concert, with just two guys, was so awesome, it remains the best two guitar flamenco performance I've seen. They worked for a year getting those arrangements together. I read and considered all the opinions of the forum members, but I don't buy the negativity. Mp3's and sound/video online do not show the whole picture. the CD sounds great. The golpe complaints are overstated in my opinion. People who play for dance have to slam. And modern dance accompaniment demands lots of cortes. it's not surprising that this creeps into his solo record. Looking at it from a pure solo guitar view, I can understand the feeling that the cortes and glopes are excessive, and perhaps they are a bit overdone. But I don't think this diminishes the artistic accomplishment.
