Graham_B -> Visit to Kevin Richards (krichards) (Feb. 20 2012 8:13:29)

I took Louis to visit Kevin Richards yesterday in cold and sunny Yorkshire.

Kevin had a couple of new guitars so Louis tried them out.

Here's a recording complete with mistakes [:D]
New hat for his birthday by the way [:D]

Louis, Ole!

Definitely got a feel for the swing of it. Very promising.

Ole Louis! nice playing + your hat is very stylish :)

RTC -> RE: Visit to Kevin Richards (krichards) (Feb. 22 2012 2:14:11)

I really like it. I guess I am a sucker for Peg Head Blancas.

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Visit to Kevin Richards (krichards) (Feb. 22 2012 18:00:57)

Very nice. I´m a pegehead blanca sucker myself.
Hows the pegs working. I can imagine they are planetary/pegheads.
Where did you buy, how much did you pay?

Louis_B -> RE: Visit to Kevin Richards (krichards) (Feb. 22 2012 18:14:36)

Thanks for the really nice responses, especially about my hat[:)]

The guitars were both really good.

I found the peghead to be more 'rounded' whilst the cedar negra had quite a bit of 'bite' which was a surprise, if that makes sense.

good playing Louis but I think you should get Doctor Compas and slow down the Bulerias, play around with the compas because it just does not sound groovy at all in my opinion, it just sounds very robotic to me. (sorry if it sounds harsh ) but you seem to be progressing well though

krichards -> RE: Visit to Kevin Richards (krichards) (Feb. 23 2012 7:23:28)

They are Pegheds from John Herin. He has a website (Pegheds) and they cost me about £100 including tax and shipping.
They are expensive and awkward to fit, with poor instructions. I did various trials on scrap to get the best combination of drill and reamer. And they come with 3 left handed and 3 right handed, which gets complicated when you already have the 1st and 6th turning the opposite way

But they work well and look good.

That is such bad news. Brian Burns used to resell pegheds and his customer service, his instruction package and everything were top-notch. I bought quite a few sets and the one time I had a problem they were replaced without question. Maybe those intructions should be posted here...
