larone -> Advice on brands for my new guitar (Feb. 6 2012 4:55:52)

Hi all,
I'm leaving Australia to live in France very soon. I'm keen to upgrade to a nice flamenco guitar. I broke my wrist years ago and it has stuffed my left hand so the guitar needs to be easy to play and loud etc.
I have a budget of between 2,500 & 3,500 euros roughly. I like Blancas. I'm thinking of putting in one of the L.A Baggs mic/picup that Jason Mcguire recommended too (i know its not nice to drill holes but i kind of have to)
So any advice on brands, makers etc would be great. I am considering flying to spain once I'm there and buying it so that's always an option.
Thanking you in advance.
Larone

Hi Larone,
Geert here from the Netherlands.
Since last week I am the proud owner of a Anders Eliasson (Beas Huelva, Spain) blanca guitar, which he build for me over the past months. I visited him last year October in his workshop in Andalucia and we selected the woods etc. for my new guitar. It is loud, plays easy and sounds very flamenco!
I remember he had a very nice flamenco guitar with all the options in his workshop, and somewhere on this forum you can see he has it for sale now for a very good price, and within your budget. He also uploaded photos.
Although not sure if it's the same guitar and despite the very poor video and sound quality, watch and listen to (I think) that guitar when he gives me some flamenco technique advice during my visit there.

Here my YouTube video and his website.

On this forum go to Useful Stuff, Classifieds, and then the post from Jan. 28, 2012 'Anders Eliasson blanca for sale (no.81)'.

Go for it, you will not regret it!
Best wishes from the Netherlands,
Geert.

Hi Larone,

No word more or less than what Geert has written. Go for an Andres Eliasson Blanca. Not because there are no other good luithers out there, there are many good luthiers for sure but we are Owners, future owners, and fans of The guy because his work speaks for himself and because Andres is a reliable, honest, and knowledgable gentleman and it was really nice dealing with him. Good luck with your choices.

Wael

How long did he take from start to finish when you ordered your guitar?

Be patient and listen to your gut. Try all the guitars you come into contact with that are within your price. Forget the brands. Trust your gut. It's easy to be in a rush to buy one. Especially if your in spain for a limited time. Easy to end up with something that's just ok.
If it doesn't convince you don't buy it. Better to play a cheap guitar and save your money while you keep looking for the guitar you have in mind. Even if it takes a while.

Patience and gut, That's the key

Hi Toby,
I ordered mine last October, Anders started building it at the beginning of November 2011. I received it last week, 3 Februari. So the last time he made 3 guitars in about 3 months.

Just do it.
Visit Anders when you are in Spain, and you'll know why!

Un saludo,
Geert.
