stermecki -> Teachers in Madrid.... (Jun. 9 2005 12:37:50)

Hi

I’m considering visiting Madrid in July. I will not travel alone, so I can not make my schedule totally dedicated to flamenco, but would like to take some guitar lessons there anyway.

Can anybody recommend me a teacher, preferable one with at least some English knowledge? And one more thing – after visiting Madrid we will probably go to some shorter trip to south, too… so I’m pretty much afraid to take my guitar to such a trip, especially because the others will not have much understanding to my guitar obsession… so, it would be ideal to go there without my own guitar… Is this at least worth of consideration – going to Madrid without the guitar and searching for some English speaking teacher? I'll stay there for about 10 days, probably.

I wish I wouldn’t have to complicate things so much, but for this summer this is my only chance…

Thanks in advance for any given tip!

Have a nice day

Andrej

Andrej.

You should bring a "swing around guitar" and not your Gonzales. play it when you are in the mood and take some classes in Madrid or here in the south, and then let the others understand your guitar obsession or not..... It's their problem, no?

Sorry, cannot help you with Madrid teachers.

Hi Anders,

“Swing around guitar” – Great phrase for a second guitar[:)]

Yes I know…I was thinking that too…but I’m afraid that my swing around guitar will not be good enough for playing at the lessons…It is really old, factory made and beaten out guitar and some things sound the same on this guitar, regardless when played with precession or not…My personal opinion is that one should buy a decent guitar as soon as possible. I stick with this guitar too long and only now I see I’ve learned some things wrong… On the other hand, it would be easy to travel around with it…..

Well…we’ll see…

Thanks for your answer! Have a nice time there!

Harold calls his old one the "beach guitar". I think I remember Simon sitting at our house playing it [:)]

Hi Kate

I don't know the usual life course of the guitar...Mine was first the »beach guitar« and because of those memories it will always stay around, regardless the sound [;)] Now she is considered as »swing around guitar«, but I belive it is a sleeping monster waiting for her chance to sing by the fire [;)]

Have a nice day in Granada!
