What do you think about him?
He is the Japanese Quentin Tarantino, but his movies are even more brutal.

Watch this only if you have steady nerves!!!

Some scenes from his lates movie "Outrage"

Hes good. He got his mafia face from an accident as I heard. One side of his face is numb coz of that accident and he nearly died. He started atually as comedian. u probably saw takeshis castle 20 years ago. He has also produced and did regie for plenty of good stuff. Don´t judge him by just watching a tiny youtube snap. Hes great.

Man, some of those scenes were just too much. I used to enjoy watching such movies and horror movies at one point. But then I started to say to myself, "Why bother having to endure such rubbish?"

So now I prefer to watch action movies or comedies, or other genres with highly-rated movies. Not a huge cinema / TV fan altogether though...

Cheers!

I was about to say the same phrase as ramzi's
I like action movies actually ... its just some of these scenes are too much

Comedy Movies rules ... oh wait maybe im just getting old [8D]

I actually like movies that makes you scare, but these blood and gore movies rely more on disgust.
As we are on topic, has anyone seen this movie? [:D]

Doitsujin -> RE: Takeshi Kitano (Jan. 14 2012 21:31:24)

hah thats cool Arash. Well I also love his movies with him in front and behind the scenes.

Well,..in this clip the gore level was pretty high.. I dont know if that is really necessary... I don´t like such torture scenes at all.. But there are others who exxagerate..maybe it becomes somehow low level gore when taking others like Takashi Miike into account..

He's great.
My favourite one is Zatoichi among all.

That's a great movie! Especially that fat, near-naked guy who runs with a spear while screaming. [:D]

Talking about violent and gory movies reminded me of the 'Oldboy'.
It is really violent but its amazing; one of the movies that I will never forget and I recommend it to you all to watch. Very bizarre story and moving!

Its directed by Chan-wook Park.

Munin -> RE: Takeshi Kitano (Jan. 18 2012 18:39:28)

Kitano is much more famous as an entertainer in Japan than for his movies (has numerous talk shows etc).

I love Sonatine and Hana-Bi, but Outrage was an exceptionally disappointing, misguided attempt at catering towards his Western fanbase (hint: the violence isn't the reason why his films are good). The Tarantino comparison is also pretty far-fetched.

Everyone should watch Hana-Bi however, it's a hauntingly beautiful film and Joe Hisaishi's score is astonishing.
