Just wondering if anyone has used this compas metronome...I like the fact that it's a physical metronome rather than the various software metronomes that are available. Price isn't too bad either...much cheaper than the Oscar Herrero one....but before I fork out the money would welcome anyone's thoughts on it.

Here's the rather long link:

Cheers
Dave

Thanks for that Rumbaking!

Yes, the price is attractive...the 'cheesy' sound I can live with...if it helps keep me in compass when I practice then I'll be happy [:D]

I'll think I'll buy it
Cheers

Well,.. if you donĀ“t have anybody who claps and counts for you.. could be very useful. At least I would have known that some of the buleria stuff I used to pay is completely out of compas!!! WTF!!! xD That happened coz I only practice with a steady beat. I should check in more detail in future. ....

Yes I used Doctor Compass when it was in free beta testing stage...really liked it. But I don't like to play in front of computer screen...but I could get an iPad or iPhone I suppose...they're small and portable and so would probably work well.

I suppose that Doctor Compass works on iPod touch as well, doesn't it?

Arash -> RE: Flamenco metronome (Jan. 6 2012 17:28:32)

i always use loops that i have made from short parts of flamenco recodings (the parts where there is not singing, guitar, etc. just palmas and/or cajon).

i also have changed the speed and made several recordings from the same loop with different speeds.

all you need is the free tool audacity and searching through your MPs.

sounds much better that all these metronomes and therefore much more fun while practicing.

Thanks for this suggestion Arash. Yes, I could quite easily do that with Reaper recording software that I use. Has a function for changing tempo whilst maintaining original pitch. Could make some loops with different tempos as you suggest and then put them on my iPod. Of course would have to use earphones with the ipod or to make it really portable or else use a speaker dock.....

very good idea.... thanks again

Dave
