Hola,
I recently got a pack of LaBella 820 Red's for my Culpepper Blanca. I have been using 820 basses and D'Addario trebles both Med Tension forever and I thought I would like experiment with some diff trebs. I like a softer feel on the trebs and the Red LaBella's seemed to be a bit more comfortable on this particular instrument then the Blacks. They really sounded good however after I installed the new set today, something strange occured. I was playing up the neck when I heard a strange resonance on the second string "B", from the 5th fret to the 12th. They stay in pitch and the 1st and 3rd E & G are perfect however the B makes a sound like a slight echo or octave when fretted at the 5th and up to the 12th. Its hard to describe but its not the guitar because I've never had this happen with the D'Addario's.
I have emailed Strings by Mail and they will be sending a new B string for me. I've had some other issues with LaBella of late, I've had to have a couple of new 6th E shipped as the strings were very discolored. I really love the 820's but it seems quality has been an issue lately. Anyone else ever had a problem like this??

I buy all my strings from SBM and been using Hanabach (sp) medium tension flamenco for several years without a problem. SBM has great service and your e-mail reflects that, Good Luck.

I had a problem with the B string as well. Frets 1-5 were buzzing like crazy.

All three strings also took forever to tune up.

I used to love these strings.

Hmmm of the red labella I donĀ“t like the treble strings so much because they differ so much in radius. The high E is so thin. The bass strings are ok. But I also use the black labella, I think they are no 820 or 850.

I have had this with Labella reds yes. Warbbly B string, off intonated G string, usually High E is good. Basses usually good.

BUT, to be fair, I have had problems similar with EVERY BRAND OF STRING. Busted high e's from Savarez and Luthier, off intonated 3rd strings from many brands, warbbly bad D strings from Savarez, Luthier, even Daddario. I have had corroded bronze color Daddario basses, Low E's that bust at the bridge from Giannini and Savarez, etc etc etc.....

There is no perfect string set I have yet to encounter. So I go for the best sounding strings for which ever guitar and stick with that. A bad string I simply change out immediately and sometimes I have to go through a couple sets to find a good string because they usually get sold from batches produced. (for example a couple of bad D strings in a batch or bad G strings etc).

I just put on a set of la bella 820 reds 4 days ago. I like the tone coming out except for the B string. It buzz from the 1st fret all the way to the 12 fret. Never had this happened with any other brands.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I just couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong as I've never had this problem either, but yes, frets 5 to 11 buzzed and had a strange overtone. I have changed out the B with a D'addario, and all sounds good again. SBM is sending me a replacement and I'm sure all will be fine.

So far I like the trebs but the basses are my favorite. I tried the LaBella 2001 Flamenco's and didn't like them much compared to the 820's. The 820 basses wear like iron, much like D'addario and I think they have a nice "feel" and of course sound muy flamenco!

Thanks again and have a happy new year!

Hi Foro Flamenco Members,

This is La Bella Strings based in New York.

We recognize that we had some issues with our black and red nylon in our 2001 Series and 820B & 820 Series.

We've officially rolled out our new & improved trebles. Keep an eye out for sets that have a yellow sticker on them saying "NEW IMPROVED TREBLES" [see set image below].

If you had ANY issues with the nylon, please email info@labella.com to receive a free replacement.

We appreciate your business and apologize for any issues. We'd like to make things right and are eager to roll out the new trebles to everyone who had a problem with them.

Best,
La Bella Strings
