The guitar is sold.
Friends, I'm selling a 2008 Francisco Navarro Concert Blanca. I will upload photos later today, and I'll try to get some sound clips at some point this week when I catch up on some other stuff. I am not the original owner of this guitar, but I'll describe her as best as I can.
The guitar has no cracks or structural defects. The setup is low, right at 2 MM for the treble at the 12th fret. In fact it is a little low for my liking, I'm pretty heavy handed... The guitar needs to be played, it hasn't opened up quite yet. The previous owner wasn't heavy handed, so the guitar has yet to reach its maximum level of volume.
Finish:
The Finish is Lacquer and was applied sparingly. You will be able to see in the photos that there is some ware around the Sound Hole. Someone apparently was digging in, or lost control a few times... There are some dings on the Binding, and the few stray nail marks on the Top. I would call the condition of the Finish good, but no where near perfect. If you want a perfect Finish, pass this guitar up...
Specks:
52 MM at the Nut, 650 MM Scale.
Woods:
Cypress Back and Sides, I was told by the original owner that this is "Royal Cypress", and it does have a great look to it. There is almost a cloud kind of affect when you study it.
The Top is German Spruce, the Fretboard is Ebony. Top it all off with a Cedar Neck, and there you have it.
The wood choices are great, and the craftsmanship is darn near perfect for a hand made guitar. Oh, and the Nut and Saddle are bone of course.
It does have tuners, (not pegs), and they appear to be the original set. The gears work well, and I see no reason to change them unless you just want a different look.
The Sound:
She has some rattle, (after all its a flamenco), and the amount of buzz is perfect for some, maybe a little much for others. If I was going to keep the guitar, I may would get a higher saddle, but that's just me. It does have a great "Spanish sound" over all, with heavy mids and growling basses. The trebles are bright, and the intonation is great. Its not the loudest guitar I have ever played, but the tone is killer, and I'm sure the volume will improve with some playing and maybe a higher saddle. I don't want you to think this guitar is suffering from lack of volume, because its not, but as I have said, its not what it will be. These are my opinions, for what ever they may be worth...
The guitar comes with a hard shell case. Ideally I will only be shipping to the U.S, but I am open to shipping to other countries if we can make it work.
The Price:
The Navarro Student Flamenco goes for $700 to $1050 new, and the German Spruce Top adds another $150 on to the price. Keep in mind this is the Concert Flamenco which is advertised at $1800. I'll let her go for little more than you will pay for the Navarro Student Flamenco! Asking $1000 with free shipping in the U.S, but don't be afraid to put in a reasonable offer! I feel this is a reasonable price and am sure this guitar will make someone happy. Its hard to find this much guitar with such great wood choices for so little money.
I'm also open to trading for other flamencos if someone is interested. That's just what I do... I love to keep a guitar or 2 for trading, and this happens to be a trading guitar for me at the moment. I would keep them all if I could, but my wife would kill me. Plus I'm not a wealthy man, but I love to experience the work of different makers, and this is how I do it. I'm not into guitar selling as a business, and am not looking to profit from it. I'm just looking to fund my habit... Please feel to PM me with any questions or offers.
