stermecki -> strings, tie-block and stringing... (Jun. 1 2005 7:48:50)

Hi!

At the moment I use these thin Savarez carbon strings. Because of their short diameter it is possible to tie them around two holes in the tie-block (similar as by 12 hole tie-block I guess). Well, I did that and now I’m being paranoic [:)]

The material of these strings is extremely hard and I know I can expect some marks around the holes on the end of the block where strings are crossing from one hole direct to another. What am I afraid of is, that strings would damage the wood around the hole too much and that the material would be too much worn out. I guess it depends also from the wood type used… mine is made from rosewood… Anyway, I don’t have any such experience with wood and I also don’t know exactly how the 12 hole tie-block is made.., if there is any additional protection etc… Any information regarding this subject will be welcome. Thanks!

Have a nice day,

Andrej
