unrealdark -> A good night in Seville!!! (Nov. 28 2011 22:36:36)

Good night. I just now came from 'Carbonería' (Seville. Spain). A mythical place where many of biggest stars of flamenco were in better times. Not only flamencos but poets, etc. Currently tourism is more than anything else. The truth is that an interesting thing happened me today. And I thought, why not share my experience tonight in my first post? (I found this forum before yesterday).
Two old gypsies unexpectedly began singing next to the fireplace (If you've ever been there you know where I mean). They looked straight out of any suburb of Seville. Their voices were deep and broken by the cigarettes, alcohol and their lives. They wore a wilted flower in their jackets. I understood that they came from a celebration. It was like traveling back in time to pure flamenco. Out of fashion or trends. It was a shame not to take a camera to record them.
Then I invited them to drink. They talked me about nicknames, dancers and singers from their families. After a few laughs they left as they came, unexpectedly. I took my last sweet wine and left the place. I knew I had the chance to see something special.
I had not seen there before. And I'm afraid I do not see them again. It got me thinking about flamenco... Flamencos...
My mind still retains the timbre of their voices.
Good night and sorry for my english!

Nice first post unrealdark,

Welcome to the foro :-)

La carboneria is certainly a fun and interesting place. I have some nice memories from there also. You really never know who or what will turn up.

Nice man... I love Seville! Although I must admit that the only fun memories I have from La Carboneria is getting hammered and trying to pick up chicks who knews nothing about flamenco by pretending to be a gypsie maestro!! [8D]
If you want to see some more 'serious' flamenco try to dig in the underground scene... the best way to do that is meeting people who can take you there.
Enjoy!

Yes, ditto on that comment, worst place I've been in Seville.
But that's a nice story you got there, definitively a good moment.

Of course. All you're right. Thank you very much for your comments and greetings. The peculiarity of the story is precisely the appearance of pure flamenco in that place.
The day you least expect it surprise you even more.
I'm from Seville. If you need something or you return some day and I can help with anything let me know.
Thank you!
