gounaro -> Perfect Combo for my Anders guitar (Nov. 21 2011 19:12:31)

Finally, after so many months seraching the perfect string combo for my Anders guitar, I ended at D' Addario Composites Bass set and Luthier 30 treble set. Brilliant, long lasting, giving to my guitar the projection i want.

I refused to set any La Bella treble set. I wanted something crispy, except from La Bella, and the Luthier 30's do a very good job. The D' Addario bass set lasts a long time. And believe me, i have spent a lot of money for buying strings. [8D]

HolyEvil -> RE: Perfect Combo for my Anders guitar (Nov. 21 2011 20:54:16)

Are the luthier hard tension as well? and the Composite hard tension too?
Do you use the brown G string?

LOL [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
I was wandering why you had all those questions about strings.
Glad you found your match.

Personally I buy a set of strings, put it on, play it, and change to something else next time, and this repeating endlessly.
Some are better, some are worse...

What do you do with the left overs?

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Perfect Combo for my Anders guitar (Nov. 22 2011 8:31:41)

Gounaro

Thats what I play a lot and for the same reasons. I use normal tension basses.
The only thing is that the composite basses are a little bit harsh sounding when bright new, but they sound great when they are all brown and oxidated. And they have a long period of sounding good, where other basses start to harsh, sound good for a short while and die out fast.

Lately I´ve used Daddario flamenco strings and I like them. The basses, I´m pretty sure they are the same as the composites and the black trebles look sexy and gothic.[:D]

Normal tension Basses, Normal tension trebles. Stringsbymail says that Luthier 30 are med-high tension, but i feel them like normal tension. I like the sound of brown G string, but my fingers dont say the same.

Now you have an Anders guitar Kozz. Try this combo. Please tell me if your guitar likes La Bella black trebles. I'm not buying complete strings sets. Thanks to StringsbyMail. BTW, how's your new guitar?

Anders, these D' Addario Flamenco strings are on a hard tension side. I prefer something lighter. [:D]

pussy!!! [:D] just kidding mate..
can you chip in on the difference between the normal tension and light tension d'addario.

I have savarez red card high tension on my blanca and d'addario normal tension on my negra and other than the high E string on the savarez feeling higher tension.. the rest of the strings feel very similar.. if anything, the low E string on the savarez feels softer.

Thanks amigo,
I'll certainly will try the combo.
Now I have the D'addario normal tension on it for a week and I don't like them, perhaps next week or so.

I'll check StringsbyMail, heard about it before but I found it more easy just to use a package.

The guitar is just fantastic. The Navarro weighs like a dinosaur in comparison.

I'll upload a video here...the sound doesn't do justice, so I'll make other recording with better equipment, and better playing [:D]
Its an arp exercise from Manuel Granados which I started this week and tried to fit as an intro for a taranta.

D' Addario Pro Arte don't give power to an Anders guitar.

They're cheap and just ok for the money! [&:]

Should be fixed now...

Anders, what were the strings you placed on it when shipped?

gounaro -> RE: Perfect Combo for my Anders guitar (Nov. 22 2011 22:05:02)

Sounds great.... [:D]

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Perfect Combo for my Anders guitar (Nov. 23 2011 8:31:06)

Your guitar was shipped with pro-arte J45. My standard string. Its cheap and consistant, and a lot of players use them, so my guitars have to work with them. Besides I dont think they are as bad as Gounaro says.

Kozz, dig in on that guitar. My guitars sound a lot when you play them lightly, but the beast comes out when you dig in. They get dryer, more midrange and a lot of power.
I play secong guitar at a cante workshop and I cannot play my best guitars because they totally overpower the other guitarists guitar. I have use my good old swing around guitar.

Thanks Anders,
dig in is what I would love to do, but I am living in an apartment and is not always possible, hence my escape to the stairs sometimes.
Perhaps I should awaken the beast inside of me to get it out of the guitar, I am a bit lame lately [:D]
Fortunately I am sick since yesterday, all the neighbors are gone...so party time ahead!

Anders Eliasson -> RE: Perfect Combo for my Anders guitar (Nov. 23 2011 11:00:01)

You should always try to awake the beast inside you and not only when playing the guitar. If you do so, no more problems with neighbours. They wont dare......[sm=Smiley Guitar.gif]

Hey kozz, i understand the situation. Deal with the neighbors is not simple. Even if they're nice, in the long run the guitar may piss them off (except if you play just 30 min every once and then).
To fully enjoy, you should find a place where you don't have to worry about the "noise" you made.

For example if you have a basement, you could arrange it, so that it can be functional for your session.
The fact is you don't need alot of space, just a chair, a piece of furniture to put your laptop and speakers and an electrical outlet where to plug an heater (and an access to a toilet).

I know a drummer who orgaznize his car garage so he could work there. Instead of parking his car in it.

Also you should look for a place to rent. See if there is no rehearsal rooms for musicians in your city. Ask them if you can share the room and the rent. (best option for me).
Or place an ad for a little room...

If you're not convinced, try it anyway and you'll see if it suits you. it will cost you some extra bucks but I think it's worth [:)]

No Anders, i think that Pro Arte are just ok strings. But the reason that your guitars have a lot of power to produce, these strings dont help. I think that a lot better strings to help your beauties to show their real aire sound!

For example, my 2A model doesnt like La Bella 820's black trebles. Also doesnt like Hannabach. Savarez sounds good for a few days and then are dead. I dont think that its a matter of guitar. You know much better than me that each guitar has a different personality.

My gutar suits with D' Addario composites basses and Luthier sets. Especially 20's and 30's. I tested once 35's but are too dark for me.

Ola Mezzo,
sounds like you've been in the situation?
Thanks for the idea, I do have a basement, it needs some cleaning up etc. but maybe it is not a bad idea after all.
If I was only able yet to entertain my neighbors with small 'concerts' it wouldn't be that bad, but listening to somebody who's learning isn't the most pleasant one.
[:D]

Gounaro,
how did you come to the idea the experiment so much with strings?
I notice some differences, but not so clear that I could remember all differences.

I'm gonna discuss that with them, above me are from Poland [:D] (no offense )

I was just searching the best sound for me. What i want from the guitar. I love the crispy sound of the guitar. I dont like dark sounds or classical ones. Although i never played a negra guitar. But i suppose that i would never like these tones. Maybe your Anders guitar is different kind. Mine is a 2A model, yours is a 1A one. The differences maybe a lot.

I prefered the strings that they give me more power, crispy trebles, razor bases. I also checked my rasueados, picados and i followed Anders advice about mid power. I'm not fond of the composite G brown string.

A negra guitar, sometimes, maybe will be more crispy than a blanca. But it depends what you want from the guitar. [:D]

I'm a rookie and in the future maybe i'll change my mind about blancas and negras.

Both normal tension sets and i say no to this brown G. Luthier's G does an excellent job!
