Hey...ToddK just sent me an email saying that he loved the "Flamenco Master" program that he just got!
He said...... "I wish I'd got this a long time ago"
Has cheered me no end!
What a lot of FM users don't know, is that you can exchange rhythmic patterns via a short email file.
I sent Todd one and he sent me his own one back. (very cool)
To do this, just click on the pattern you want to send (in FM Settings) and send it as an email attachment. The end user then pastes it into his "Settings" folder.
And esto es!
Muy buen compás con ritmo!

Ron, I'd love to use it but I cannot practise in front of my computer so I use a standard clockwork metronome and try to feel the accents in my head.

Ron: thats pretty cool I had no idea. On the off chance do you have any fun patterns for allegrias? I am still working on the FT allegrias solo and I think it might help challenge my compas. Oh and I love the program I should have gotten it earlier. it definitely beats sequencing with shoddy clap tracks.
Thanks for the heads up

RonM, the 'Flamenco Master' was one of the best tools I acquired when I started out! As a matter of fact, all students of flamenco should have this program. The best $20.00 I have spent on flamenco material.

I would encourage anyone that does not have this Flamenco Master, to order it and start using it, because it will surely help with your timing/compas! (just don't use me as an example)!! ;>)

I'm going to give this a go - sequencing palmas to play along to IS bloody fiddly.

Do you know where you can get Compás 17? I cannot get FM to work with Win2K or WinXP.[&o]

Thanks,

Scott

sbarnard, you must have something set wrong, because I have WinXP, and it works fine! Maybe RonM can help you out with this, but, again, mine works just find.

Hey, what do you know! I updated the audio drivers on my Win2K notebook and FM works![:)]

Ron, I want to purchase it, but I'm a little leery about sending money through the mail. Do you have a Paypal account setup?

Nevermind Ron, I clicked on the link on the site to download registered software and got it. I can't wait to go home tonight to practice!!!!

Ron.M -> RE: Flamenco Master (Jul. 16 2003 20:56:14)

Fergusito,
I hear what you're saying. Three and a half years ago, the program was just meant to be the next step up from an ordinary "click-click" metronome, for a beginner to use in practising basic compás.
It had to be reasonably simple to use.
It was never intended to be a "backing track" machine or a "palmas" substitute.
Just a simple metronome.
I found that in the slower toques, a "contra" pulse helped define the tempo and could be a help to a new student.

Since then I've had requests to upgrade it to bring in lots of new programmable features which are really cool.
1. Making the contra fully programmable.
2. Auto adjusting for changing beat 1 to beat 12
3. Larger window size.
4. Different style of buttons.
5. Speed in bpm rather than "Scottish time"
6. Finer control over speed.
7. Animated examples of playing overlaid with compas.
8. Footswitch stop/start.
9. Programmable change of speed in sections for Alegrias.
10. More comprehensive notes on compás with guitar examples.

If I found the time to implement all of the above, then I could probably guarantee Worldwide sales of maybe 5 or 6 more to meet the demands of specialist users.

If anyone is into software, then my advice is to get a job with a company who pays you every month, or if you want to be an independent, then start a porn site or a ripoff site, but never become a legitimate independent shareware author in a specialist field!

You won't earn enough to pay for your tombstone!

cheers

..umm.. what's Scottish time??

I've had a very quick play with FM, and the tempo is confusing me!

Ron.M -> RE: Flamenco Master (Jul. 17 2003 13:25:24)

Jon,
Scottish time? 1 is "affa slow" and 100 is "affa fast"
Ideally the slider control should be set for the speed you want (normally somewhere inbetween these values).
The number will then indicate your selected speed in Scottish Time [;)]

cheers

Ron
