kozz -> last fret only few mm away from the nut (Nov. 5 2011 5:36:51)

This morning I was checking a video at La Sonantas website and I noticed that with this guitar the last fret is almost near the nut.
The guitar is a Daniel Gil De Avalle.

Is this something commonly used?

Kozze, this has been discussed a 100 times. Its called a 0fret and is a typical Bellido feature.
Daniel Gil De Avalle is maried to Manuel Bellidos daughter.

Yes it is 0Fret. I learnt it from my ex father-in-law and master Manuel Bellido. I currently do not use it but used it before for some time. The purpose of the 0Fret is giving the flamenco guitar a more temperamental character, although, in opinion it gives place to certain problems.
