Rmn -> Eyes on a Valeriano Bernal, need your view (Oct. 13 2011 20:05:27)

Hello people,

I have a question about a guitar I want to go and see to maybe buy. It's a bit far away, so before I go all the way to the sellers place and find out it's nothing I wanted to ask you your opinions.

First of all I'm sorry if this doesn't belong in the general foro. I couldn't choose between lutherie or general. So anyway here

It's a Valeriano Bernal from 1999. But the thing is that the price really surprises me. It's really cheap, so I am wondering what are your opinions. I know Valeriano Bernal has heaps of models that are built by others. This doesnt say a name of a model, just 1999 250 f. Pictures below

Do you think it's potential?

Thanks!

If you click on to the link Sean posted you can read a lot about my story with the Bernal workshop. At the time the models didn't have names until I was involved with the marketing. This guitar is the 250F which means that at the time of sale in 1999 it was 250,000 pesetas. A wage in Spain at that time was about 1.5 million pesetas per year. That was an expensive guitar and was probably built either personally by Valeriano or his son Rafa. This model is todays equivalent of the "passion" which costs around 3000 euros new. Its only the student models that are not built in the Bernal workshop. This is a higher model Bernal and looks in very good condition. I dont know how much they are offering it but you can decide for yourself if its a good price.
