Hola amigos
I have been playing flamenco for almost a year now as well as continuing to play classical and bossa nova guitar. Recently I decided to focus on my flamenco technique's and I have started going through the exercises in Oscar Herrero and Claude Worms "Traite de guitare flamenca" Volume 2 - technique de la guitare flamenca. Anyway, I have been starting to do the tremolo with p i a m i and realized that in the book it said that the p should be rest picked (P). I though that this was limiting although I much prefer the strong sound and find it hard to make a very loud volume free stroke. What is the prefered technique and why? What do the masters use? what is the generally accepted consensus in Flamenco?
Thanks Atienne

Thank you, a very interesting discussion, obviously lots of different opinions on the matter.

As is usually the case.. I find there isn't usually a 'short cut' or concensus right/easy method of doing the more difficult techniques. Just practice and following the key tips and pointers that most people agree upon.
