Hello all,

I am fairly new to the forum and still getting my head wrapped around the immense information about Flamenco on this site.

I am travelling to Granada in December and would love to get a handmade flamenco that I could enjoy for years. I started playing Flamenco a couple of years ago and currently have the Yamaha CG171SF model (with the usual upgrades such as bone/nut replacement etc.) But I think I am reaching the point where I am beginning to care about the sound that I think I want to upgrade to a serious Flamenco.

What would you all suggest? I have the opportunity to travel to Spain (Granada) in December and have few months to research and read about best options. Are there Luthiers / Shops you would suggest that I check out while I am there?

Thank you in advance!
Ashish

There are over 40 luthiers in Granada. Send a PM to Pimientito as he lives in Granada and knows most of them personally. I am sure he would advise you. Also Estevan, although he does not live there he visits a lot and seems to have a good knowledge of the luthiers and may be able to help you.

Try Raya Pardo - he makes excellent guitars (but so do many others). I have a second hand one that I think is excellent, but I'm just a beginner, so don't know much.

Manuel Bellido is a renowned Luthier from the Grananda school. His son, Jose is also a well regarded Luthier (as are other members of the family).

Anyway, Manuel Bellido blancas are stunning (In fact, soundwise, not dissimilar to a Reyes - but without the $15k price-tag!).

Thanks for the suggestions. I have emailed most of the folks ... There is a lot to learn!
