Hi

I need to fill in some peg holes in order to re-ream them. Is there a decent and effective, non-contracting wood filler which is appropriate for a guitar? I was thinking of a natural resin of some sort but I am pretty clueless (and yes, pretty fed up!)

Any advice etc etc

No wood fillers please.
The easiest fix for you that will require the least amount of tools is to buy tapered boxwood peg hole bushings from a violin supplier, Internationalviolin.com sells them in the USA.
If your holes are that bad you probably need new pegs or re fit them in any case the proper reamer and peg shaver is a must. The other option is to drill it with a forstner bit and make your own plugs with a plug cutter.
No matter which route you choose to go a drill press, reamer and shaver are the minimum tools needed to do this job properly.

I can see that plugs would be the way to go and I can at least contour them to fit hte reamed holes (I am buying a shaver and already have a reamer). However, I thought maybe woodshavings and araldite might be OK as most of it would be coming out when the holes are re-done. Bad idea?
