Almost finished. Just need some shaping and finishing on the bottoms of the buttons. Oregon Mountain Mahogany 3200 on janka scale. Even the white sap wood is hard. A dense wood that finishes nicely. All hand made using hand tools only.

We need to get you a lathe Sam. Then you can make pegs for all of us. [:D]

They look really nice. You have chosen to have them quite close to the head (from the back) I see. Is there a convention as to how much hangs below the head? I can see that only a cm need protrude from the top to attach and wind the string, but below?

Thanks

Jeff.

Thats cool and really homemade. [:)]
I would make them thinner. I make mine 1/4" at the tip. It gived you a better gearing and a better tuning.

Jeff, I have seen pegs mounted closer and also farther away and just made these a length where I liked the looks and feel. There is no rule that I know of.

Anders, I agree and these no doubt will be turned down a bit more when fitted to the guitar. I think 1/4 inch is ideal. I made these to match a possible upcoming flamenco made from a light colored set of Oregon Madrone that I rescued from a steel string maker.
