How do you guys usually play when it comes to scalar runs? I find transcriptions are almost exclusively in favor of open strings over minimizing string changes I am curious if that is how most of you approach it. For me, I practice the open string approach but find it orders of magnitude more difficult than using more left hand fingers/etc. to minimize string changes.

I'm fairly new to Flamenco, but I don't understand your question. Are you talking about a scale run within a piece or just practicing scales, in general. I am using the "3-note per string" scale patterns up and down the neck and use these for any scale runs in a particular key anywhere along the neck. Is this the "wrong" approach? Could you describe your approach in more detail? Thanks.

Just various runs .. for example
-------0
0-2-4 - 4 -2-0 versus 0-2-4-5-4-2-0
