Is it considered "bad" to allow your picking fingers to come over the sound hole? Most video I see of experienced players keep their fingers form encroaching on this region. I find my hand inching towards it while practicing though?

Good question. I have found that this adversely affects the instrument's ability to project.

I feel you lose a lot of the percussive flamenco sound if you play near the sound hole... for certain techniques (like alzapua) more so than others.

hey mate.. if it's played right over the sound hole, it tend to sound a little bassier, and you'll lose a little of the trebles in your sound.
but also if you play really close the the bridge, it tends to sound pretty thin and plastickey..
It's been discussed here and I've found that the best sound tends to be around the midpoint between the bottom of the soundhole and the bridge.

cheers mate
