guitartennis -> new to flamenco - need help (Apr. 16 2005 5:31:35)

Hey everyone

I have been playing classical guitar for a few years now, but recently I have become interested in learning to play flamenco. I have been trying to learn entre dos aguas by paco, but was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on learning picados and rasguerdo, and maybe could recommend some pieces to learn?

I would be very appreciative for any help.

Hi,

If you can get your hands on Juan Martins books with different palos/styles in them they're ok to get the idea. The techniques takes a while to build up but alot you should already have from doing classical. The COMPAS/ is the big thing to get into your head, if you lose the compas IT AINT GOOD! I found learning Libre/free style tunes (Taranta, Rondena, Minera) are good to do because you can work on expression and this helps with the flamenco feel. LISTEN TO HEAPS. Go and see it. Go nuts, it's great fun!!!

Larone
