The town that I live in only has one music store that isn't a chain store, and it specializes in classic rock. And of course the chain stores specialize in whatever makes money.

I was wondering where/how everyone acquires the flamenco music they listen to? Do you live somewhere that has stores that sell flamenco albums? Do you buy online? Do you download?

Elijah

I usually buy from www.flamenco-world.com
They have a wide selection of things but lately their service has become very slow... I was in Madrid and I went to the Flamenco Vive shop which also had a great selection of everything flamenco. I do not know about the speed of their online service however.

flamencoconnection.com is the best online source. Cheaper shipping, good selection, fast.

The following also has some flamenco artists...

I get a great deal of stuff from Amazon. I have an Amazon credit card and I use it for everything, paying the whole sum off each month at the end of the grace period so that there are no charges. That way I get 1¢ in brownie points for each $1 spent, and it mounts up, enough to pay for most of the new music I want.

For more arcane stuff, I use Flamenco Connection. As someone else said, they are very reliable, although not as cheap as Amazon.

Incidentally, did you know that Saura’s Flamenco has been re-released in Spain with 5.1 and DTS surround sound? It also has Spanish subtitles, so you can get the lyrics of all the songs if your Spanish isn’t so hot.

I got that from esflamenco.com (I have a multi-region DVD player); I've found them very reliable, too.

After the various comments I’ve seen about Flamenco World, I’m avoiding them.

I bet you can get alot over the web, and some cd stores can order for you.

I just bought a big pile of cd's when i was in spain this summer, i found everything i have now there, except a Paco de Lucia collection, wich i got online.

I bought dvds there too..

I guess going on vacation to buy cd's is a very expensie way to do it though, but i would recommend it!

I'll do some downloading from time to time. But I prefer to buy CDs from locally owned shops. I'll do this once a week or so.
(Bought a disc of palmas/cajon on various compas)
