Harry -> Ramirez Concert Guitar Strings (Jul. 16 2011 3:26:31)

Inspired by a positive comment from AlVal I decided to purchase a set of these strings.

I will try to write a bit of a review if possible. So far, I have to say the packaging is really beautiful, not that this counts for anything.

Does anyone else use these strings? Typing Ramirez and Strings in the search does not exactly yield the right results obviously.

be good to hear another opinion...i did like them and would use them again
but loving the hannabach titanyls at present....prefer both very much over the luthiers 20's or 30's...
all the best Harry...

I've used them once, never again. I took down a set of D'addarios that was already dead, and put the fresh new Ramirez strings on, but it was a cruel critic over the Ramirez strings, which had worse tone than the overused D'addarios.....
All the 6 strings on the pack was dead on arrival.

i have mixed feelings about this one...they are the best strings ever for my guitar (which is a Ramirez) tone-wise, but unfortunately they don't last long at all...
the day before my first ever performance on stage i put on a new set, i practiced a bit, then the next day about 5 minutes before the show i noticed that the D string winding was gone right at the 2nd fret, where i used it the most, so i was really nervous that it would pop during the performance...fortunately it didn't, it died the very next day...as they're costly too, i've never used a set since...
i wouldn't use them for anything else but recording...

Strings are like various makes of guitars: everyone has a favorite and one or two out of favor. I have not tried every brand of string, but I have had very good results with Luthier 20s. I have three flamencas: a Vicente Carrillo negra that I had made to my specifications, a Manuel Adalid Viviana blanca, and my original Vicente Sanchis blanca. I have Luthier 20s on all three. All three sound bright, and the strings seem to last. I'm not touting Luthier 20s as the best, but they have worked very well for me.

Cheers,

Bill

I frequently put Jose Ramirez strings on guitars I sell, to replace the stock strings, which are sometimes not too good.

I have found them to be very good strings – rich, creamy sound – both bass and treble, and the bass and treble seem perfectly matched to each other. They have a full solid sound and real projection.

But because I put them on new guitars, I only play them a little, so I can't attest to their longevity.

Ramon
