Wheater -> Crack in golpeador (Jul. 7 2011 4:01:57)

I just recently purchased a new Reyes model Navarro, and a month later there is a crack in the golpeador! Is this common?

Hi, I dont think that's common[&:]...is the crack on the wood below the golpeador? (If yes it could be that the percentage of humidity is to low, probably below 40%, and you should humidify your guitar asap) or is it in the plastic?

Wheater -> RE: Crack in golpeador (Jul. 7 2011 4:17:36)

It's in the plastic. It's miniscule, but it's there. The humidity is not the problem for sure. What should I do? Just wait and see if it gets bigger?

I don't think it's common , unless it was scratched with something sharp .. I don't think nails are sharp enough

If you post a photo of it, perhaps you'll get an instructive response from one of the luthiers on this board.

I'm not sure I could catch a photo of it. I'll try after work today, but it's pretty small. It's about 15 cm long, but very thin and hard to see, but it's definitely a crack.

Gonna need a picture.... golpeadores really don't crack as a rule. It could be a scratch in the golpeador, or it could be a crack in the finish or in the wood underneath.
