Greetings,

I did a quick search to see if this was already here and didn't find it so hopefully this is a new tip for the forum. If not, then this is my hello, glad to be here message to everyone. The tip is to setup a webcam to show yourself live. My Logitech webcam came with software to do this but I think it can be done in Movie Maker as well. I then start a video of an instructor playing some picado slowly (lately I've been using Adam Del Monte's videos) and put the two windows side by side. I try to get my cam in the same position and distance from the guitar as the instructor's so I can see my hand position right next to his. It takes some fiddling with but once you get the two lined up closely you can really see how your hand position differs from the instructor. Works best if the instructor video is a short loop.

Anyway, it helps get a sense of hand position. When I did it the first time I saw some significant differences between my and the instructor's hand position that I had previously missed.

All the best,
Hans
