Hello fellow flamencos!

I have decided to finally take the plunge and go spend some time in Spain. I will be in Seville for two months from mid-May to mid-July.

I have already booked an apartment in La Macarena district and I got in touch with Tino Van Der Sman for guitar lessons... I figured that since my Spanish wasn't exactly streetwise, I might as well get lessons from someone who speaks English to start with.

So the apartment and lessons are all set and I'm hoping to get to know the flamenco scene well when I'm there. I have however never been to Seville and was wondering whether anyone here had any good tips for someone wishing to really experience the city in general (I really want to get to know the Seville of Sevillans... not the touristic Seville) and the flamenco world in particular.

Any tips you might have about places to hang out, bars to experience, restaurants to try, tablaos to check out etc would be very appreciated.

Thank you.

Saludos,

Avi

La Carboneria and El Tamboril are two cool places to see Flamenco.

Unrelated to flamenco, but if you haven't had it before, definitely try the Jamon Iberico at a tapas place. Awesome stuff!

Si busca cualidad, Tablao Los Gallos en el barrio de Santa Cruz. Pero Tino puede aconsejarte bien.

thanks for the suggestions....
I worry a bit that there is gonna be a lot of "flamenco shows for tourists" not aficianados. a couple of the reviews on some of those places mentioned, add to my fears.

will probably check out Tablao Los Gallos and also try to find some more low key venues...there must be a famous flamenco joint where the upcoming new bighitters frequent.??

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely check them out... i'm also skeptical of flamenco shows for tourist hence me asking for tips here.
