hiya guys,

i'm going to perform with my group on the steve katsos show again. remember the funny greek guy? [:D] it's going to be a benefit show for the jimmy fund.

our dancer has an injured knee and we have a 5 minute limit (there's other acts as well) so we have to do a smaller scale version of whatever we're going to do but if you're curious....[:)]

and you're in the area...
http://www.regenttheatre.com/details/the_steve_katsos_show

if not, it'll live on thursday, april 28 6.30-9.00 pm est on www.stevekatsos.com.

i hope he doesn't talk to me again....[:D]

wish me luck!!![:)]

Five minutes?! You'll have to walk on playing (like Paco did the first time I saw him, sometime in the last century).

You'll do great. Just remember to address the host as 'malaka'. [;)]

ok, so here's the little piece that we did.

i thought i got over stage fright but i was pretty nervous that night. it wasn't playing in front of people that made me nervous but it was knowing that i was being recorded.

i tried to dig in too hard and got my nails stuck in the picados and i dazed out and played a B minor by accident at the end. woops! [:D]

ok, enough with the excuses. let me know what you guys think!

Well for starters, you look like a Persian cat. [:D]

Secondly, I thought that was fine! You're being too hard on yourself.

Thirdly, what was that clapping on the guitar you did at the end? [8D]

olé Tiriti, great job! :)

Andy Culpepper -> RE: steve katsos show round 2 (May 2 2011 20:51:11)

First off, man you really are getting a good grasp of compas and funky rasgueado patterns. ole! excellent playing

Second, I like your stage presence, you look comfortable but focused.

Third, will Lauren O'Donnell marry me?

(just kidding, I'm happily in a relationship )[:D]

Elie -> RE: steve katsos show round 2 (May 2 2011 20:59:42)

very nice work anthony !! [:)]

Sounded good to me. Your part stood out and your rasgueados were REALLY fluid!

Maybe you can work on the anxiety you experienced by recording yourself at home. Considering how well you did chances are you'll become more comfortable with this type of situation over time. Good job, Anthony!

sig -> RE: video for steve katsos show round 2 (May 2 2011 22:17:03)

Anthony,
You are being too hard on yourself. It was a great performance and remember, nobody in that audience noticed that you went to a B minor. I've been in the same position after a show thinking, I missed the rasg on that last chord change or I missed a note or two during a falsetta. Listen, its art not science so just enjoy the moment and remember, you're doing what 90% in that audience wished they could do!
Sig--

great idea! with all the stagehands, cameramen, and grouchy sound technicians, and everything else there, it felt really "official" and i felt i had to play perfect. ironically, that made me play not as well because i got nervous. i'll definitely start recording myself more.

ooooh, but i have to hear it every time i listen to it. [:o][:D] thanks for the encouragement! [:D] i'll try to be less hard on myself. [:)]

HolyEvil -> RE: steve katsos show round 2 (May 2 2011 23:39:52)

Looks great mr Antonio tiri titran :)
I wish I had the drive to practice as hard as you.. You are such a good player now!

Congrats my amigo!

at_leo_87 -> RE: steve katsos show round 2 (May 3 2011 0:07:25)

Thanks Skye!

It's not about practicing. It's about not having a life, and just playing the guitar to pass the time. [:(][:D]

Nice Anthony,

Your new guitar sounds cool. Nice job at keeping the tempo down and nice choice of chords. It's tough accompanying dance without cante but you did well to keep it interesting. Ole!

Graham_B -> RE: steve katsos show round 2 (May 3 2011 7:55:22)

Anthony that was a most impressive performance.
Well done again!![:)]

Thanks Kris! I tried to keep it interesting without overdoing it and covering the footwork.
